A Spectacle of Corruption by David Liss
This is historical detective fiction. I've read three of his novels now and enjoyed them all. His protagonist, Benjamin Weaver, negotiates the political and criminal worlds of 18th century London with vigor and aplomb.

Kingdom, Grace, Judgment by Robert Farrar Capon
I mostly like Capon's handling of Jesus' parables in this compilation of what were originally three separate volumes. He most definitely emphasizes overwhelming grace in his reading of the texts. He's probably all but a universalist, though I can't decide for sure. Worth reading with heads up.
